Eliminating odours instead of masking them
Air fresheners only mask odours. With ozone treatment, odour molecules in the interior are neutralised through oxidation. The process works where cleaning agents cannot reach: in upholstery, ventilation ducts and trim panels.
An unpleasant smell in a car is more than a cosmetic flaw. It reduces comfort on every drive and noticeably lowers the value when selling or returning the vehicle. Many prospective buyers decide against a vehicle that smells of smoke within seconds.
Effective against
- Smoke and cigarette odour
- Animal odour
- Musty and mould odour
- Odours from spilled food or drinks
How ozone treatment works
Ozone is a particularly reactive form of oxygen. An ozone generator produces it from the ambient air and distributes it in the closed interior. There, it reacts with the molecules responsible for the odour and changes them chemically. The odour is not covered up, it is broken down.
Because ozone is a gas, it penetrates areas that no brush or vacuum can reach. These include the cavities behind trim panels, the inside of the seat cushions and the ventilation ducts. We run the ventilation in recirculation mode during treatment so the ozone also flows through the duct system.
The cause first, then the treatment
Before every treatment, we check the cause of the odour. A thorough interior cleaning is often the first step. Ash in gaps, pet hair in the carpets or a dirty cabin filter would otherwise keep producing the odour again. The ozone treatment neutralises what remains in the material after cleaning.
With musty odours, we also look for moisture. A wet carpet, a leaking seal or a blocked water drain are typical causes. As long as the moisture remains, the odour comes back too. We tell you honestly if a cause should first be fixed by a workshop.
Carried out safely
At high concentrations, ozone is not suitable for people or animals. That is why the treatment takes place exclusively in the closed, unoccupied vehicle in our workshop. After the exposure time, we ventilate the interior thoroughly. In the process, ozone breaks down into oxygen again. You only get your vehicle back once it has been fully aired.
We adjust the duration of the treatment to the size of the vehicle and the intensity of the odour. With very strong smoke odour, a second treatment can make sense.
Who the treatment is for
Ozone treatment is ideal after buying a used car from a smoker, before a sale and before a lease return. Dog owners, families and businesses with company vehicles and changing drivers also use it regularly.
The value of the treatment shows especially when buying a used car. A vehicle that convinces technically but smells of smoke becomes, after neutralisation, a car you enjoy sitting in.
After neutralisation, a scent of your choice can be added discreetly on request.
Frequently asked questions
Does the car smell of ozone after the treatment?
Directly after the treatment, a slightly fresh, neutral smell may be noticeable. It fades after a short time.
Is ozone treatment harmful to the interior?
With professional application and an appropriate duration, the materials are not affected. We adapt the treatment to the vehicle and the odour.
Does smoke odour disappear permanently?
In combination with a thorough interior cleaning, smoke odour can be eliminated permanently in most cases. If smoking continues in the vehicle, it will of course return.
