Gloss that lasts
A ceramic coating forms a hard, smooth protective layer on the paint. Water, dirt and insects adhere much less. Your vehicle stays clean longer and is quicker to wash. The gloss looks deeper and is retained for a long time. This applies to cars as well as motorcycles.
Technically, it is a coating based on silicon dioxide. It is applied as a liquid and bonds with the surface. The result is a thin, very resistant layer. It protects the clear coat from UV radiation, bird droppings, tree sap and aggressive cleaners. Compared with wax or simple polymer sealants, a ceramic coating generally lasts considerably longer.
Polish first, then coat
A coating preserves the condition of the paint. That is why we carefully prepare the surface beforehand and, where necessary, remove fine scratches and holograms with a paint correction. That way, we coat a result worth showing.
The process in our workshop in Hude:
- Thorough hand wash and chemical decontamination
- Removal of rail dust and tar, with clay where needed
- Paint correction matched to condition and paint hardness
- Degreasing of the surface so the coating bonds securely
- Application of the ceramic coating panel by panel
- Curing under controlled conditions
Besides the paint, we can also coat wheels, glass and plastic parts on request. Wheels benefit particularly, because brake dust is much easier to remove afterwards.
Who a ceramic coating is for
For new cars, the timing is ideal because the paint is still untouched. On older vehicles, we bring back the gloss with a polish and then lock it in. If you use your vehicle every day and have little time for care, a ceramic coating noticeably saves effort. A coating can also be applied on top of paint protection film.
Realistic expectations matter. A ceramic coating makes the paint more resistant, but not invulnerable. It does not help against stone chips. For that, paint protection film is the right choice.
After the coating
Your vehicle can be used again straight away. In the first 24 hours, it should ideally not be exposed to heavy wet conditions. For ongoing care, we recommend hand washing. You receive clear care instructions from us.
How long the protection lasts depends on the product, the mileage and above all on care. Brush car washes shorten its life. If you wash regularly by hand and use pH-neutral shampoos, you will enjoy the result for a long time. On request, we refresh the coating at a maintenance appointment.
A simple test shows whether the protective layer is still working. If water no longer beads off the paint in round droplets but sheets and stays, there is often just a film of dirt on the coating. A thorough wash usually brings the effect back. If it does not return, we advise you on whether a refresh makes sense.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from wax?
Wax only sits on the paint and has washed off after a few weeks. A ceramic coating bonds with the surface, is harder and lasts much longer.
Does the paint have to be polished first?
In most cases, yes. Scratches and holograms would be preserved under the coating. How extensive the polish needs to be, we decide after the inspection.
Can I use a car wash afterwards?
It is possible, but not advisable. Brushes create fine scratches and wear the coating down faster. Hand washing is gentler on paint and coating.
