Protection where it matters
Moorings, fenders and cargo take their toll on your boat's surfaces. Our paint protection film protects delicate painted surfaces from light scratches and everyday wear. The original colour remains visible.
A boat faces different stresses than a car. When mooring, fenders and lines rub against the hull, and during loading, boxes, bags and equipment knock against edges and boarding areas. On top of that come UV radiation, water and deposits. Over the years, painted surfaces and gelcoat lose their gloss and pick up scratches that are difficult to remove. A transparent boat PPF paint protection film addresses exactly that.
Typical areas
- Bow and mooring areas
- Boarding areas and steps
- Painted fittings
Which areas make sense depends on the boat and how it is used. If you often moor at different jetties, the hull along the fender zone benefits most. On sports boats with dark paint, boarding areas and the swim platform are especially at risk. We protect precisely the areas where wear actually occurs on your boat.
What the film does
The paint protection film is made of elastic polyurethane. It absorbs friction and light impacts before they reach the paint or gelcoat. Small scratches form in the film instead of on the surface underneath. Many films have a top coat in which fine scratches level out again with heat. How pronounced this effect is depends on the product.
A boat PPF does not replace antifouling below the waterline. It is designed for surfaces above the water. For the underwater area, we offer a dedicated antifouling service.
Our process
Before installation, we thoroughly clean the areas concerned. Oxidation, limescale and residue would remain visible under the film. Where the gelcoat has turned dull, we polish it first. This is part of our boat cleaning and ensures the film sits on a clean, glossy surface.
The film is then cut and applied without bubbles. On curves and edges we work with particular care so nothing lifts. Installation takes place outside the season or by arrangement, so your boat can go back into the water on time.
Care and durability
You care for a boat PPF just like the other surfaces. Rinse off salt and dirt with fresh water after use and use mild cleaners. Avoid harsh abrasives and stiff brushes. Durability depends on the film, sun exposure and wear. Boats stored under cover in winter have an advantage. A cover that does not chafe extends the service life further. During the annual boat care, we check the film edges on request and rework them where needed so no water gets underneath.
Frequently asked questions
Is the film visible on the boat?
On smooth surfaces, a professionally applied film is barely noticeable from a normal distance. At edges, a fine transition may be visible on close inspection.
Is the film suitable for gelcoat?
In many cases, yes. The prerequisite is an intact, clean surface. We check this on your boat beforehand.
Can the film be removed later?
Yes. A high-quality paint protection film can be removed professionally without damaging the intact surface.
